The episode ´To Snare a Wolf´ received wide-spread publicity because of the bomb run sequence at the end of the episode. It involved the largest use of explosives at one time within a television series, and gained an entry in the ´Guiness Book of Records 1985´.

A brilliant way to end the season with a great Guest cast - with Lance LeGault standing out as Bogard... the scene in Hawke's cabin is one of the most intense of the entire series. Pure cinematic brilliance on every level, and the recording-breaking (Guinness book 1984) B52 bomb run is just breath-taking.

Agreed Mark, this has to be #3 on my all-time favorite "Airwolf" list. As Mark said, great cast, and ending sequence. Sly Levay's new version of "Moffett's Theme" rocks, and is quite effective during the spying-satellite times. Very good. Always entertainment. Will never die down in greatness! Kag212

D.G. Bogard? Well nobody else than Lance LeGault could make such a great bad guy to end the first season. That episode is really fantastic : Bogard threatening Hawke in his cabin, Hawke hiding the Lady under the wing of an old airplane, without forgetting the final "B-52 bomb run" which is itself a piece of television history.

One of my all-time favourites as well. Fantastic moment when Bogard sends in helicopters to try and block Airwolf from taking off - and String uses the mighty turbos to escape. The B52 bomb run is certainly awesome....

The Ultimate Season 1 episode! Lance LeGault is the epitomy of an evil high-ranking government employee....one most politicians would fear. Although Kathleen Lloyd's character may have meant well, she didn't seem to have much substance, and wasn't that significant in the shows turnout. Plus, she's offered a job at Santini Air, and us viewers never see her again, so we'll never know how that would have worked out. And I cannot forget the bomb-run. A very "explosive" ending to the 1st Season..

"Brer Rabbit to Brer Fox, I was born in that brier patch."(string, after the bombing run) This is my all time favourite episode. I just loved the bombing run. And Lance LeGault was brilliant. And even when the had airwolf pinned down on the ground, there was no way to hold her, with Hawk at the controls. Very exciting episode.

Not much more to add to those reviews...:) I loved this episode completely. It served as a stark reminder... Hawke was a wanted man... and the government was ready to hang him by his private bits to get Airwolf back. Interesting to note... Hawke's restraint, and brilliance in defeating Bogard... Rather that turning Airwolf's guns to bear on those that threatened his life... Hawke realized that killing people would only make things worse, and instead, at great risk to himself and to Airwolf, chose to rely only on his pilotage, and Airwolf's resilient and unusual capabilities, to reveal Bogard's spy, and also, to show that he was NOT a renegade willing to kill indiscriminantly just to keep Airwolf... he was a man with a plan, and an agreement he stood by... but also, a patriot that wouldn't sacrifice his country or its people, for his own ends. It's no small wonder, that the government would turn down the heat on their pursuit of Hawke after this incident, perhaps finally recognizing that it served no purpose, and carried risks too great, when compared to the benefits of letting things ride as long as Hawke didn't do anything to provoke a belief that he HAD gone completely against his own country or endangered security. I'd make TWO backups of this tape... if for no other reason, the B52 bomb run, which in and of itself, is sufficient reason, though the whole episode is more than worth the same treatment. Paul

To Snare A Wolf has a fantastic finale, but its the character driven moments that make the atmosphere in this episode so intense. Particularly Hawke's and Bogarde's confrontation in the cabin. One of the last episodes to feature a traditional Airwolf ending around the bar in the cabin.

Brilliant! With one of the greatest aerial chases of the whole Airwolf run.

Great pacing. Very original idea to have Hawke and Santini do work for another government agency in this episode.

The ultimate in action, will never be beaten by any movie or show. The ending sequence is the ultimate in incredibility! No one can put into words how fantastic this episode was!!!

What can i say. The bomb run, the chase, the acting, the story. Amazing!

This is definitely my favorite episode. I agree with all of the opinions stated here. This episode is very reminiscent of the "Cat-and-Mouse" game played out in "The Enemy Below (1957)" (US Destroyer vs German U-Boat) where each move is followed by an equally impressive counter-move, until the "Check-Mate" move is delivered by the "better man". Ranger1000 does a very detailed explanation of Hawke's thinking process (nice job!). I was (and still am) impressed by the way in which Hawke eludes the other helicopters (start-to-finish). I admit that the 1st time I saw this episode, I was totally blown away. No wonder they decided to use this clip in the future show opening clips. Pure Brilliance! I only wish I could find a decent copy of this episode.

Oh boy, the 1st season was great! This was a perfect ending to an almost perfect season. A great story, great performances and great visuals; The escape from the plane boneyard and the B-52 saturation bomb run was just awesome. And Bogard was the best Airwolf villain next to Dr. Moffet.

Excellent. What more do I need to say? Nice to see Hawke concerned about Archangel when its revealed Bogard has gone after him as well as Airwolf. The moment when Dom thinks Hawke has died in the bombing run and his anger and anguish is great. Only thing that jarred was the character of Toni (who Hawke never warms up to) and I for one was glad that despite the offer of jobs at Santini and at the Firm we never see her again....still she wasn´t enough to spoil the rest of it :)

Well, even though no weapons were used in this episode, the storyline was brilliant! In my opinion, one of the very best of the first season!

Simply the best, next to the pilot! Nuff said. Look no further than this! Great acting, tight script, beautiful aerial footage! If someone views this and still dislikes Airwolf,... it wasn´t meant to be! My personal favorite!

18 Nov 2004, rarebutafact 50, Rating 6:
Although I felt that Toni had a little too much camera time, and that the bombing run wasn´t quite as spectacular as others here may have indicated, this ep is definitly in my top 4. Above average musical score, even for Levay.

Good episode because Hawke pilots the airwolfs like anybody !

The scene where Dominic finds Toni in the desert is hysterical, and they start to ´fight´, is hysterical, I loved it! This is definatly one of my favorite episodes!

My all time favorite episode of the first season..and the funny thing is I lived out in that area where it was filmed and seeing the boneyard brought back some childhood memories!! I love bogard and the little pow-wow with string and you can see hiim visbily flinch..priceless!! I love the ending where String says"I was born in that Brier patch!!" Great ending to a great season!!

A shot of Airwolf flying forward and then turning left to enter the briar-patch is re-used before the original happening. It's shown before the JetRanger fleet shot is followed by the B-52's flying slowly high in the air.

In the episode TO SNARE A WOLF, the scene where Bogard entered the cabin to have a pow-wow with Stringfellow, you can see a reflection on String's curio glass door. When the camera is focusing on Bogard, you can see JMV stretching his back and shoulder. His hands placed on the counter and looking down at a book (I think it's a screen play manuscript) and he is arching his back and raising his shoulder blades as if to stretch. Then when the camera returns to JMV, he is in a total different position.

Not a blooper as such, but a rather poor effect. The shots of the satellite in orbit are very unconvincing, using old methods of what looks like a cardboard / matte painting of the satellite in orbit of an equally unconvincing backdrop. (The shot is no doubt stock footage that is much older than this TV series!) [Courtesy of Jayson Firestorm ¿ Airwolf editor @ TVTome.com]

16 Nov 2002, Xenoman 35:
One I didn't notice until a recent viewing... in the scene where String lands the Steerman airplane he "borrowed" from Toni at the aircraft boneyard, as he is landing you can see many cars traveling on what looks like a major freeway about 1 mile away. Though this was supposed to be "out in the middle of nowhere"

05 Jan 2003, Wesker 35:
After the first bomb dropped from the B-52 and the Airwolf Helmet reacted you see a *female* Hand initate the Afterburners. I wasnt aware that Hawke was that feminine. ;) Wesker

When Dom and Toni arrives at the cabin you see Ted lying on the platform before they land. When Dom opens the door to the cabin, Ted walks out!

First of all the Rocket launched in the beginning is not your typical NASA satelite rocket but a Saturn V used to launch the Apollo´s to the moon. Also the satellite footage is actually the first Space Station, Skylab

06 Dec 2008, Shep2112 35:
When the Saturn V rocket is launching, some of the sounds are Airwolf´s sounds, and one of them, the roaring animal sound, is the sound of Goliath, Garthe Knight´s truck in Knight Rider. This sound is heard in at least one other Airwolf episode, earlier in Season 1.
